Perspectives on Habermas
Edited by
Lewis E. Hahn
This collection
contains 30 critical and descriptive essays by prominent
philosophers on the work of well-known and controversial
philosopher Jürgen Habermas, the most eminent living
representative of the tradition known as Critical Theory.
An extremely
controversial figure, he was a student of the famous Theodor
Adorno, though he later took issue with him. Habermas's life's
work has been devoted to defending the Enlightenment ideals of
rationality, humanism, and the possibilities of discourse.
The Times Literary
Supplement has called him "the foremost social and political
thinker in Germany today." He is the author of many books,
including
The Theory of Communicative Action and Communication and
the Evolution of Society.
